Leaders connect for standards forum
A Learning and Teaching Academic Standards Forum in Melbourne this week has attracted more than 100 leaders from the higher education sector, professional peak bodies and industry groups from across the nation.
Hosted by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council, the forum aims to bring together discipline communities to take the first step towards defining learning and teaching academic standards for the new quality and regulatory environment that will come into place with the formation of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency.
TEQSA will regulate the sector against an agreed standards framework that is likely to include elements relating to providers, qualifications, research and learning and teaching. The Australian Government has commissioned the ALTC to manage the learning and teaching academic standards component of the framework.
ALTC discipline scholars will drive the standards work under the leadership of Professor Christine Ewan who heads the project.
