Citations For Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning
Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning recognise and reward the diverse contributions made by individuals and teams to the quality of student learning.
Citations are awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the quality of student learning in a specific area of responsibility over a sustained period, whether they are academic staff, general staff, sessional staff or institutional associates.
Citations provide an opportunity for distinctive institutional missions, values and priorities in learning and teaching to be recognised. Citations are awarded for a range of contributions to student learning, both direct and indirect. Up to 210 Citations with prize value of $10,000 each will be given in 2010.
Closing Date: nominations are to be postmarked no later than 30 April 2010.
Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning
Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning recognise learning and teaching support programs and services that make an outstanding contribution to the quality of student learning and the quality of the student experience. The programs and services that receive these Awards must have demonstrated their effectiveness through rigorous evaluation and will set benchmarks for similar activities in other institutions.
The seven categories for Programs that Enhance Learning are:
- The first-year experience
- Postgraduate education
- Assessment and feedback
- Innovation in curricula, learning and teaching
- Flexible learning and teaching
- Services supporting student learning
- Educational partnerships and collaborations with other organisations
Up to 14 Awards with a prize value of $25,000 each will be granted across the seven categories in 2010.
Closing date: Nominations to be postmarked no later than 9 July 2010.
Presentation ceremony: November 2010.
Awards for Teaching Excellence
Awards for Teaching Excellence celebrate teachers (individuals and teams) renowned for teaching excellence, who have outstanding presentation skills and who have made a significant contribution to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in higher education.
The eight categories of Awards for Teaching Excellence are:
- Biological Sciences, Health and Related Studies (including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Medicine, Nursing etc)
- Law, Economics, Business and Related Studies
- Humanities and the Arts
- Physical Sciences and Related Studies (including Architecture, Building and Planning, Engineering, Computing and Information Science)
- Social Sciences (including Education)
- Indigenous Education, for receipt of the Neville Bonner Award/s
- Early Career
- Internationalisation (Priority Area for 2010).
Up to 27 Awards each with a value of $25,000 each will be granted across the eight categories in 2010.
Closing Date: Nominations should be postmarked no later than 9 July 2010.
Presentation ceremony: November 2010.
Prime Minister's Award
The Prime Minister's Award for Australian University Teacher of the Year is the premier university teaching award that is normally presented to one of the recipients of the Awards for Teaching Excellence. In exceptional cases, more than one award will be presented. This Award, worth $50,000, recognises an academic with an exceptional record of advancing student learning, educational leadership and scholarly contribution to teaching and learning.
Presentation ceremony: November 2010.
Career Achievement Award
From time-to-time the ALTC will award a Career Achievement Award to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to learning and teaching that is recognised across the higher education sector. The Career Achievement Award is given to individuals whose career achievements in learning and teaching in higher education have had a major influence and left an enduring legacy.
Members of the Australian Learning and Teaching Council’s Board put forward nominations for this Award.
